"This 10 week series of semi-private lessons was a birthday gift from my husband, who was worried that his wife was going off the deep end with stress. What an amazing gift it was!
This has been such a wonderful growth experience for me (and yes, it has most definitely helped with my stress level). I gained not only a good familiarity with and appreciation for the practice of yoga but also a new awareness of my body. I learned to listen to my body and to honor it for what it can do instead of condemning it for what it can NOT do. Two direct effects of that awareness are that 1.)I am now much more conscious of my posture and how I hold stress and tension, and 2.)I was able to start a reasonable weight loss program and lose 12 pounds.
Perhaps the greatest lesson of this experience was that it’s not as important to get the pose “perfect” as it is to be conscious and fully present throughout the process of moving into the pose. In this super high-speed, goal-oriented day and age, this is a powerful metaphor for a better, healthier way of living.
This peaceful practice of gentle focus, movement and awareness is an oasis to which I can now look forward every day. Thank you so much!"
